Advanced Synthetic Ester Technology (ASET™)

Orion 5000-EL engine and fuel lubricant has been formulated with ASET™ technology (Advanced Synthetic Ester Technology) to address and overcome the known problems associated with ultra low sulfur diesel (ULSD) fuels.

The Problem: Ultra Low Lubrication

ULSD has had its sulfur content reduced from 500 parts per million (ppm) to 15 ppm. This reduction of sulfur in diesel fuel lowers its lubricating properties. Diesel engines require more lubricity to reduce friction and prevent excessive engine wear. ULSD fuel lacks the needed lubricity and that can lead to metal on metal scarring, increased engine temperatures, increased carbon build-up in the fuel system, clogged fuel injectors, and reduced fuel efficiency.

The Solution: Orion’s ASET

The synthetic esters in Orion 5000-EL were chosen to solve multiple problems associated with ultra low sulfur diesel (ULSD) fuel. Esters are premium lubricants that can be added to fuel and oil stock to improve its quality and characteristics or to solve a particular problem.

The advanced synthetic ester technology in Orion 5000-EL engine and fuel lubricant was carefully formulated to address specific properties that could neutralize or even overcome the problems associated with ULSD. Those properties needed to overcome the affects of ULSD fuel are polarity, lubricity, detergency, and biodegradability.

Polarity

The polarity of the synthetic esters in Orion 5000-EL’s allow the molecules to attach and to penetrate into metal surfaces. This natural molecular polarity enhances the lubrication and cleaning process, and aids in its biodegradability.

High Weight Ester Molecules Provide Lubricity

The high weight synthetic ester molecules in Orion 5000-EL provide extra lubricity to reduce friction and heat. When added to the fuel tank, the high weight synthetic ester molecules in Orion 5000-EL quickly coat and penetrate the surface of the diesel engine and its moving parts. Orion 5000-EL forms a bond with the metal and adds needed lubricity to reduce metal on metal friction, heat and wear. Orion 5000-EL formulated with ASET™ technology provides the extra lubricity that diesel engines need.

Low Weight Ester Molecules Provide Detergency

The low weight synthetic ester molecules in Orion 5000-EL provide detergency to continuously clean the fuel system, crankcase, fuel injectors and minimize injector deposits. They add solubility, dispersal and detergency throughout the fuel system and crankcase to clean and remove harmful by-products like carbon, sludge, coking, and varnish. A cleaner engine is a more fuel efficient engine.
