Lab Tested and Industry Proven: Orion 5000-EL Reduces Emissions

Orion 5000-EL is being used in North America to meet federal, state and provincial clean air requirements by organizations and individuals where testing is required and mandated.

Proven in the Lab

Orion 5000-EL has been proven in the lab to reduce exhaust emissions. Tests conducted by independent research facilities confirm that Orion 5000-EL reduces emissions and ash content.

When Orion 5000-EL is added to diesel fuel, it increases the cetane content. The increased Cetane content in Orion 5000-EL reduces dangerous NOx emissions especially in non-road fleets where less cetane-insensitive technologies exist. In an ASTM D613 test—Cetane Number of Diesel Fuel––Orion 5000-EL increased the cetane level of diesel fuel by 4.5%.

Orion 5000-EL also reduces ash and particulate matter. In an ASTM D482 test—Ash Content from Petroleum Products––Orion 5000-EL was found to burn 99.9999% ashless upon combustion.

Proven in the Field

Orion 5000-EL has successfully lowered emissions for over the road trucking companies, non-road heavy-duty truck and equipment operators, and vocational trucks like cement mixers, garbage trucks, and buses (school, transit and charter). It has also been used effectively by diesel powered locomotives to reduce emissions.

Orion 5000-EL clients have demonstrated 30% reductions in particulate matter (PM) emissions, with results often higher. These findings have been corroborated using Red Mountain Engineering Smoke Check 1667 opacity meters (SAE J1667 standard specifications).
